I just got and old AD Cletrac.  I can not find a serial number plate. It is not on the fire wall like most Oliver models, so I am thinking it may be from before the 1944 take over of Cletrac by Oliver. Does anyone know where Cletrac put their serial number plates.

Pretty sure they were high up on the firewall too  :(

I had an old AD carcass and I'm pretty sure the tag was on the firewall. Is it running Robert?

When I get it home I will look at it again but could find no sign of a tag on the fire wall.  No it is not running, the engine is stuck from siting for years.  The oil is right on the 4/4 mark with not sign of water in it all.  The exhaust manifold is like new.  I have a rebuilt long block engine for it, all it need is for the accessories for the engine to be ok.  This rebuilt engine was rebuilt in 1962.  I got it from the retired parts manager from the Local Oliver dealer.  He had kept alot of their old obsolete stock.  I got a lot of parts from him that he had kept for years.

I found the engine serial number which is 450198 since they started at 450005 this has to be one of the first 200 tractors built.  Most likely one of the first 50 since I do not think early production rates where such that Cletrac would have bough 200 engines at one time.  So this is a late 30's machine.  I will try to get the original engine running if possible.

It sure is good to see the form back!!   I got the AD home. It is an early one from 1938.  I found the spot on the firewall were the ID tag was. Since there were a lot of changes to the early ones I have figured it is from 2Z90 to 3Z45 from the parts book.  The serial number on the generator is 98, so if they install the generators buy serial number it is the 98th tractor built which fit the serial number range I think it is in.  It has not run in over 25 years but was sitting under a large cedar tree which protected it from the weather.  The engine is stuck but I have it out with the head and pan off.  Three cylinders are good but one did get a little water in it.  However it is not too bad and I am sure I can clean it up ok.  The bottom end looks good, no water damage.  So the winter project is to over haul the engine.
