Hi everybody. Finally put a 3-WI loader on my OC3. Just got all the pluming completed on the old girl. What is the procedure for filling the hydraulic fluid and getting rid of the air in the system ??? I do not want to make the mistake of running the pump dry!

If the pump has never had oil in it before you could open the supply line at the tank and put a quart or two in it and re-connect. To get the air out just cycle the cylinders in and out a bunch of times and it should self purge.

One more question. Was there a release valve with these loaders? If so do you know where it should be located. Mine did not come with one.
Please explain a little more. Are you talking a relief valve to protect the system or a set of break-a-way couplers. Also make sure you have a filter on the return line to the tank.
Landis gave me a 3WI install and parts manual. Unfortunately it is for the early versions before they moved the spools to the top of the tank.They talk about it in the manuals as an overpressure release valve. I did not get one with my loader when I bought it.

As far as the return line to the tank, do you mean the 3/4 inch hose that comes out of the bottom front of the tank?
My relief valve is plumbed into the back side of the tank. Kinda hard to see because the loader up-rights obscure access to it.
The relief line is the one coming from the bottom of the steel lines manifolded together under the dash (rubber line) The other end of it is connect to the relief valve installed in the bottom, inside side of the tank. You can kind of see the shiny fitting if you look between the tank and the loader arm up-rights at what would be the front end of the tank.

O. K. what is the large hex plug on the valve body? Your relief valve needs to be in the circuit before it reaches the valve spools otherwise it does not protect the circuit All the valves I ever worked with had the relief valve built into the inlet side of the valve. Do you use a filter?
Just talked to Landis. The release valve is located in the valvebody. John you are right, the adjustment is that large hex nut on the left rear of the body. The filter is inside the tank attached to the 3/4 inch line that feeds the pump. That was the good news. When I started adding fluid, the pump started leaking like crazy around the shaft. Landis says that the pump is no good. There is no rebuild kits for it and of course he has new pumps for $450. Has anybody had any luck putting a different pump on an OC3 or OC4?
