Does anyone know whose gas tank Cletrac and Oliver used on the HGs and OC-3s? I'm thinking it must have been used on several other tractors since there is an indent on the top and bottom where a steering shaft probably went for tractors and there is no reason for the indents on the HGs and OC-3s.
It was also used on the Cletrac General GG, hence the indent.
Didn't the Moline BF also use the same tank?? I know they were based on the Cletrac General,
they had a different grill, but the tank looks the same.
I found someone with a BF Moline about 100 miles away so will check out the gas tank and post whether the BF Moline and OC-3/HG gas tanks are the same. Too cold in MN to do it for a few weeks. Thanks Doug and Blake
.
Ok so the "notch" in the bottom of the tank is for th GG & BF steering shaft. What's the "notch" in the top of the tank for?

A chap at the (long deceased) local dealership told me it was for production efficiency. Top and bottom were identical, saving one set of dies at the factory.
Made sense to me.
Yep, Jack is right! I asked my gramps that many years ago and he told me the same thing.

I took a trip to see the Moline BF gas tank and the person also had a BF Avery tractor. The gas tanks are identical to the OC-3 gas tanks.
