I finally got to drive it round for an hour today and moved a few buckets of dirt and ground asphalt, and ripped out some concrete.
The rams leak, but not bad..
Major issue, governor is not working, some feedback might help me out. I have the instruction manuals for the HG and OC3 and the parts book for the OC3. My governor is the earlier non-bumper spring type., and I set the rod 1/4 inch forward of the hole according to the manual. The tractor has no "quadrant" like it did stock, but a different arrangement but still operates by moving the lower governor lever.
I have installed a Zenith carb and can set the throttle arm anywhere I want. When facing the engine from the right side, full throttle is clockwise. Is that correct? If I am wrong that would explain the problem.
Also, with the stock carb, what is the distance from the center of the throttle shaft to the center of the throttle rod hole?
If thats not it, and I take the governor out and find problems, does Zimmerman or anyone have parts for it?
Distance from the center of the throttle shaft to the center of the throttle rod hole on my IXB-3 is 10-13/16". I added a small spring anchored on the manifold to the throttle linkage, else it wants to run at full throttle. I have some play in the linkage between the governor arm and where it's mounted. The governor shaft is peened over the throttle arm and that wobbles. Maybe a spot weld fix.
What's wrong with your governor? does it not advance the throttle under load?

It does not. I am concerned that with a non stock carb and throttle it may be hooked up going the wrong way. Always start with the basics.
When advancing the throttle does the rod between the carb and governor move forward, rotating the throttle shaft clockwise when viewed from the right side of the tractor?
for the dimension, i meant the hole to hole length of the actual throttle arm on the carb, mine looks a little long compared to pictures in the manual.

Distance from the center of the throttle shaft to the center of the throttle rod hole is 5/8".
Rotation of the throttle shaft is clockwise (toward the front of the motor) to accelerate.

Yes it does. My throttle arm is 1.5 inches so it is not calibrated to the governor. Thats an easy fix. I figured out the direction last night looking at a photo of the Marvel cab on Ebay, so I had that right. With the carb disconnected from the linkage running it by hand the gov does nothing, this narrows it down to an internal problem. When i have the radiator out later this week I will pull it apart and see whats wrong.
