Title: oc-18 steering
Post by: oc-18guy on August 08, 2015, 10:13:21 PM
ok wrong parts inquiry on last post. I was looking in the parts book wrong lol. what I really need is parts for (1) of the steering valves(although I did replace pancakes in the rotochambers).I have replaced all the O-rings within the valve but not much better. At first the problem was when it would build air pressure it would lock the left side spot turn, after o-ring replacement it blows air pressure through breather and will NOT build enough air pressure to turn correctly but does track straight now. I haven't called landis yet but am about to that point. steering valve is a Bendix-Westinghouse. dozer serial number 1-ks-802-pt that would make it a 60' and one of the last one's made I believe?any info on a complete valve or parts would be appreciated, thank you!

Hi! Those valves are pretty complicated inside. Had mine apart several years ago and I'm thinking we ended up having to use valve lapping compound to re-seat a seat in there. I never looked for parts for them

thanks for the reply bob. I will keep that in mind. I do believe I am on the right track now after taking it apart SEVERAL times. I ended up taking another valve off to compare and low and behold someone ::) had put too thick of a washer in there sooo we shall see soon. I may try to get a video or something when it going full steam. thanks again!
