My most recent HG appears to be a late '48 or '49, 68 inch wide model. When I got it the engine was siezed (like all of mine) but a few hours with a small sledge hammer handle (I used the hammer handle to tap down the piston, don't get excited) & some motor oil was able to get the piston most rusty to move down so I could hone the walls & flush the cylinder with Oil & kerosene. A few hours later it was reassembled with cleaned plugs
& running.

After that the clutch disk stuck to the pressure plate, it was a pretty quick disassembly to get the clutch out. The disk looked good as did the pressure plate & flywheel. The only thing I noticed that was an issue was, where the upper engine mount bolts pass thru the frame into the flywheel housing the housing was cracked on both sides. There was not much I could do at the time but reassemble it. Once reassembled the clutch worked perfectly. Now to my most recent problem, while idling after the clutch reassembly the fan pulley spit out the little ball bearings into my face. Luckily I was wearing safety glasses. I have another fan pulley assembly, when I filled it with oil, it ran out the back, this one has no ball bearings, it's from a '39 or '40 model so it has a bronze bushing.

This one is a little different, the back half of the pulley seems short to me. Anyone else see that? The other question is, is the seal in the back of the pulley replaceable?

It appears I spoke before I checked properly, after taking apart the fan pulley on my 68 inch model it has no ball bearings. What hit me in the face must have been pieces of the bronze bushing that were being ejected from the rear of the pulley. That one is pretty well trashed, I might be able to get the bushing out but it's so heated that I can't tell if the bore the bushing is pressed into is damaged. Looks like I'll be calling Zimmerman's in the morning.

Zimmerman's sells a replacement shaft and bearing kit that replaces all the inner workings in a fan pulley.
I posted some photos of replacing the bearings and shaft over on Blake's Cletrac facebook page. It looks like the back lip of your pulley is missing.
Thanks for the replys Paul, I'm not on face book so I wasn't able to see your photos but I did buy one of the pulley repair bearing assemblies. It was easy enough to install once aligned properly, just press it in. I didn't get mine pressed in all the way so I shimmed it out with a washer, next time I have it off I'll press it the rest of the way in. I also purchased a couple of studs & what was supposed to be the tapered washer that set in the "ears" on the back of the frame, where the frame bolts to the sides of the transmission case. I received two studs 1/2 diameter coarse thread on one end & fine on the other & two "stepped" washers, not the cone shaped ones I expected. I don't think these are what I was attempting to get. I looks like the frame studs are 5/8 inch not 1/2 inch & the stepped washers can't be right. This might be because I started to place my order with Ray but he had to leave so Landis completed my order. I'll get it straight on Wednesday I call them back, I still need to order some 90 wt mineral oil & a button coupler so I can properly lubricate all the rollers & bearings. I'm sure this one hasn't been lubed in a while, all of he button zerks are painted over. I also purchased a new throttle lever complete with spring & pawl for just 24 dollars & it works wonderfully, nice not to have to wedge a nail head against it to keep the throttle engaged. I truly appreciate having this site available for info & Zimmermans for parts.
