Hello All,
A few months back I got myself a nice looking Cletrac AG built in 1940, The old guy I got it from told me that it had some clutch issues but seen as it ran so nice I decided to take a shot at it and got the thing bought. Anyway I have just got round to giving the old girl some attention. When I was looking up the clutch for this make and model I could only find descriptions of the procedure so as I have been sorting mine out I thought I would take a few photos so if anyone else in future tackles one they could see what they are up against ...
My flywheel was covered in sticky oil from the spigot bearing lubricating wick in the end of the crank, the oil should drain away through some holes in the flywheel but these were bunged with dust from the clutch linings and oil and grease from the spigot bearing !
While the clutch is out I am having it re-lined and new thrust and spigot bearings.
I removed the clutch through the hatch under the fuel tank, The reason I removed the engine was because I thought the rear main oil seal was leaking but it was not, the cause of the troulble was the bunged up holes in the flywheel unable to disperse any excess oil.
here is a link to my album with the pictures of the clutch etc towards the end.

Hope this may help someone in the future

Thanks for posting the clutch pics! You've got lots of great pictures on that site!

I agree with Blake. Great site, thanks :) The AG looks the best of the bunch ;)
Assuming the AG crank handle, and sub-frame assembly for it, is the same on an EG (same engine), and looks as if you don't have an original, I have that whole integrated assembly if you need one?

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me where i can find a front crank pulley for my little AG the one on it was a rite mess, It looked like someone had previously removed it with a hammer and chisel !
Thanks

Hi All
I have now had my clutch re-lined and cleaned all the bell housing out ready for reassembly, I have got a new spigot bearing sorted for the flywheel but I am having trouble finding a thrust bearing for the clutch. Can any of you guys let me know of any cross references or where I can get one ? My local bearing supplier had the old thrust bearing for a week but just came back to me and said ... "It's obsolete" ???
I have shot blasted the flywheel face and the prop shaft brake disc so they are completely rust and oil free. I have also re-bushed the clutch pedal as it has a tendency to go sideways with the amount of wear it had. Hopefully when I get a thrust bearing and a crank pulley the old AG will be sorted.
Thanks In advance

Hi Carl,
Gee, I think most of the crank pulleys I've ever seen have had a very hard life...
