Hello, all,
I am new
So I got the cletrac bug a while ago and finally stopped looking and drewling at all the cool pictures online of everybody elses cletracs and started searching for one of my own, I finally have one i believe its an OC3 with a ware loader.
I bought it because I am a retired autobody guy and I am sick of working on cars , so I sold my streetrod and picked up this cool little machine to restore.
My first task was to fix the hydraulics because they leaked fluid all over the driveway and when my wife got home she was not happy. So then I had to get it into my garage to work on it and when I did that those steel tracks arn't driveway friendly so Ya I really got yelled at for that one.
So while I let the wife cool down I'll go out and work on my new toy.
So I drained the dirty old fluid then took off the badly leaking hydraulic cylinders to repack them but I can't seem to figure out how the piston comes out. I unscrewed the collar and the piston pulls out and then clunk it stops. Piston turns but that doesn't seem to be screwed in.
Could someone tell me how to get these separated so i can then come back and ask were do I get the correct packing kits for these old cylinders.
Thanks steve
I am not sure I understand exactly what you did, but the ware cylinders have an 8 sided end that screws out of the end of the cylinder. Then the piston comes out. There is also a small collar that holds in the shaft packing, it usually just has two slots in it to turn it. Hope this helps.
Uhoh, maybe someone replaced the cylinders, mine are round , I did remove that collar and tried to unscrew it but the piston turns very easy and when I try and pull it out I hear a clunk like something is keeping it from comming out. I will try and fight with it again tomorrow.
I figured it out, the end of the coupler unscews and it all came out, couldn't see it at first with all the paint it looked like one peice.
