Title: K 20 engine
Post by: Bill Kycia on December 02, 2016, 03:05:01 AM
My K 20 could use an engine replacement. The engine in it now is very tired.Lots of blow by etc.Because it is a babbit bearing engine, rebuild is $$$$$.Plus parts are non-existent. Does anyone have decent running cletrac engine.W uses the same one. Bill in CT.

I have never heard of a K20 with Babbitt bearings? I would list your want ad on the Cletrac.org Facebook site. Good luck with your search

Hello Bill, yes the later W engine is the same as the K engine. The early Ws used the Weidely engine, it would work but they only had one bolt for each engine leg mount. The later Ws that have Cletrac on the engine data plate, should have two bolts per leg mount

If you look in the W or K parts book it will show the Insert style of bearing, not a babbit type. Someone must have used babbit as a fix during a previous overhaul. You might be able to melt out the Babbit material and find standard insert bearings. I would definitely keep looking for a W or K engine with two bolt holes on each motor mount
