Title: HG engine removal
Post by: shooterman on October 20, 2017, 10:27:01 PM
I need some expert advice. I am trying to remove the engine on my HG. Grill, sheet metal propeller shaft all off. I remove the 4 horizontal bolts in the front and 4 bolts at the bell housing. something is still holding it at the bell housing. I can't see anything so there must be those "hidden"  bolts somewhere. But where? any clues?

I think there are some hidden bolts into the bellhousing that are under the front track supports. Makes for a lot of work to remove the engine!

Thanks for the response. It appears that the easiest way is to remove flywheel, then detach the block from the flywheel housing. This would just leave the flywheel housing in place. I sure would like to go back in time and ask the design engineers what they were thinking.

Yes, leaving the bellhousing in place will work. I have done that.  If I could go back in time I think I would be kicking them in the but!!
