I have a "Maintenance instruction book" from 1945 with the following print on the cover: "Cletrac, Tru-Traction Tractors" "Maintanance instruction book, Model HG" "The Oliver Corp...".
On the second page there is a picture of the HG and one can clearly see the decal reading "Cletrac, Tru-Traction Tractors".
My question is did the early "HG" have the Cletrac decal on the side of the hood? When I compare it with two other "Instruction manuals" from 1950 (HG) and one from 1951 (OC-3) those show both the HG and the OC-3 decal. Any info about year of change of decal is of great interrest.

Erik, I cannot give you much that is definitive with respect to the year of change.
I have reprints of Cleavland Tractor Company brochures that show the Cletrac oval decal and I also have brochures after the Oliver acquisition that still show the Cletrac oval decal.
The location of the decal varies from the front of the hood to the rear.
Most common in the pictures is for the decal to have the front edge aligned even with the back of the radiator side covers and centered on the radius of the hood.
I cannot recall were the decal was on the HG we had when I was a kid.
None of the pictures with the Cletrac oval show the model HG decal that came latter.
My 51, which is original, has the Oliver HG decal on the back of the hood.
My suspicion is that Oliver used the Cletrac decal until they ran out and then switched to the "new" Oliver HG decal--but I do not know when that might have happened.
Another thing that can cause confusion is that it certainly seems that when they issued a new brochure they apparently were not always moved to take new pictures.
