Any backyard mechanic worth his salt should look at the oil filter study. You will be amazed at the quality differences between filter brands and who manufactures filters for the major brands. I have always used Fram and believed they were the best. To find the study simply go to GOOGLE and type in oil filter study.

I have heard of many Cummins Diesel engines being destroyed by Fram filters disintigrating and allowing pieces of themselves to go throughout an engine. One of their favorite places to hide is in the oil squirtter nozzels that cool the pistons.

I used to run Fram and stopped because of the bad test results. They really are not good filters, based on the tests, not my opinion
I run Mobile One in every application I can get one for.
I can't verify filter performance alone but I do oil testing on most of my engines and I have extremely good results.
It's kind of nice to get "love" notes from the lab:D:D

Since I got my Dodge Ram with Cummins I have learned a lot about oil filters. I now run only Fleetguard filters. They are owned by Cummins.

this is a good topic. I just finished changing my vehicles over to synthetic oil and a better filter. I also used Fram for a long time, but after checking the comparisons I found the same results, that they are not filtering out small particles as other filters. A good website that I got a lot of info out of is www.motoroilbible.com (http://www.motoroilbible.com). It may be kinda of a plug for amsoil, but after reading the info I belive this may be the better route to go with both the filters and the oil. check it out and see what you think.
