Title: AG6 Low Compression
Post by: KRM on March 06, 2004, 02:33:48 PM
Can anyone tell me why F226 Continental has 60 lbs. pressure straight thru?  Tractor has low power, no blow by or oil consumption.  Piston rings have low hours.  Thanks!

Probably valves not seating properly. Check valve clearance, take off side cover and make sure valves close fully on each cylinder. If that is ok, the valves may need reground, or maybe the rings aren't as good as you think.

Have you access to a vacuum gauge. I would like to see a vacuum test run on the engine. Also were all the plugs out when you took the compression test. A cylinder leakdown test might be a little harder to do on an L-head engine but if everything else failes, I would try it.
