I had an excellent day at a vintage ploughing match yesterday with my BD lots of questions about what it was hardly anyone knew what it was, well worth the late nights to get it there. Ploughing wasn't bad considering I'd never used a trailer ploigh before. Can anyone tell me how I can post some pictures on here? After all my recent worries about the engine it ran fine and held its oil pressure, several people commented that it sounded nice. Thanks to everyone on here who's given me help and advice, an excellent resource. Sam:D
Great to hear you had fun at your ploughing match. Were there any other crawlers there, maybe different brands that you could compete with?
No there were no other crawlers there I would have been in for some silver ware if there was a class for crawler or three furrow ploughs! There were probably over 100 ploughs there though, mostly behind small Massey's and Fords. When I get the photos off my camera I will send one to you and Landis, as I gather there aren't many of the Oliver BD's restored about, I was lucky enough to get the side panels and battery boxes so it looks real nice. How many bottom plow did you pull Sam?
Only a 3 bottom plough at about 8 inches deep and 14 inch width per furrow. She managed that at tickover without even noticing it in the light soil we were on. Running it all day has done the engine a lot of good it started like a dream the next day to unload it. Hopefully a picture should be atached to this!
