Hello all ,
I just bought an hg 42 I think
,can someone tell me where the points are on my IXK3 WITH wico mag.
and maybe what the best fix is on the track guides on the front ,,there are shot

What is the model number of your magneto? It could be a model C or a Model X. Both have the points inside the cap, however the model C has them behind the gear housing which is the black housing after the cap and can be tricky when putting it back together again as it needs to be timed.

I took the whole mag off the motor and I see the screw in the cap, so Im hopin the points are under the cap.
Can somone tell me the year off of these numbers I found on the motor tag .

or if there is any other way I can identifiy this animal.

Looks like it would be 1947, if that engine was never changed. There is no real list to tell the year from the engine model number, but I have a list of HG's that we recorded the engine and tractor serial numbers and by comparing that I can get real close to the correct year. Your HG would have had the tractor serial plate on the righthand frame rail ( if you are sitting on the crawler ) back near the transmission, there are 4 large headed rivets in about a 4 inch square, the plate was riveted in the center of that.

That is a HG-42 with possibly a Horn Loader ( built by New Idea )

If that is the correct and original color your HG is probably between a 1939 and 1944 model... However I have heard that you could special order newer models with the orange-ish paint on it... Only way to tell for sure is if you can find the serial tags and hope they are original... Good Luck With you project...

If your machine was green originally it would be 1945 through about 1949 or 1950, so good bet it is 1947 like Ray stated... I can see by your last pic it is more of a reddish color, not orange-ish and that it is a paint over... I would like to find a 1939 - 1945 HG68 (orange one) as my dad used to have one that we cultivated potato's with back in the 50's... I own a 194? HG31 orchard, a 1951 OC-3-42 and a 194? HG68 parts machine... Thay are loads of fun to play with and we actually still use ours to haul hay in the winter in deep snow, cut and haul firewood and put in and harvest a small 1/4 acre plot of potato's and also take them to antique machinery shows during late summer and fall...
