Post by: Harvey Havens on September 06, 2002, 12:53:16 AM
Is there certin way the tract pins should come out? are the pins tapered like from the inside to the outside or from the outside to the inside is there a difference which way the pins should be driven in or out i,m working on a oc3 with 12" tracts the other time i changed the tracts i think i the drove the pins from the inside to the outside this is the way they seem to come out mabe there is no difference they have keys in both ends of the pins would like to know if there is a difference thanks HH  :P

In my book it says they could be driven
either way on OC3.

But on the HG there are two type of pins
the older type is one way pin marked whith (out) on one side
And the newer is like on the OC3.

i,m sure i dont know the hardness or the tightness by measurement but i do know they are tight and very hard  would heat help? would it take some of the stringth of the metal away i have had tight pin,s before but not this tight never had to use heat before either get a bigger hammer i guess thanks  HH   ;)

I wouldn't use heat. Do you have a track pin drift and a big sledge to buck it up?
