I've been using my BD for some ploughing this weekend, and realy enjoyed working it, but at the end of the day I removed the drain plugs from the final drive casing and one was oerflowing with oil, and the other was below the level plug. Any idea's why, could the holes be blocked that let it flow down os perhaps one lift pipe to the pump has a leak. Anyone come across this, as I don't want to remove the seat and lift the top of unless esential or I know what to look for.
Also I noticed that when warm the steering levers were grabbing slightly could the brake bands be worn? Sam
Sam you should be able to take the cover off the transmission and see if there's oil pumping up there when the transmission is neutral and the clutch engaged. If it is, you should be ok. Maybe it's only pulling oil from one final drive, but if it's pumping I would not think that would hurt anything.

thanks Blake a very logical thing to do, should have thought of that myself. any thought on the steering grabbing, I wounder weather the linings are worn in patches as the linings in my other model Bd was only worn through in a couple of places not all the way around. Sam

I took the inspection plate off and shone a torch in with the engine running and there was very little oil flow at all, just a dribble, the drive shaft was running the pump, wounder weather the screens are blocked as i flushed a lot of rubbish out of the transmission housings when I changed the oil after buying it. If they are how do I get to them to clean them, as it looks like i'd have to split the final drives. If you I may disconect the suction pipes, blow down them and change the oil hopefully flushing mst of the gunk off them. Sam
