My hercules DJXC has thrown a conrod taking out the cam, parts and motors seem impossible to find in Queensland AU. Have been offered a BD motor, are they similar, will they fit. Newcomer to the forum, thanks for any help.

The Bd is also fitted with the DJXC although only the very late oliver Bd's had the roosa master injection pump. I think the OC12 had a higher max speed to increase power but I'm not entirely sure on that, but I see no reason why you couldn't transfer the injection pump etc.. from your oc12's engine onto the BD's. Other differences would be the air filter, I think the dynamo was moved, its driven of the end of the water pump on the BD. All only minor differences. Good luck, Sam
I believe the earlier Bosch pump used before the Roosa Master is a better pump anyway. I think the Roosa Master was a means to cheapen cost in typical Oliver fashion.

Great to see you back on line! Finally got a motor, but to buy it, I had to take an entire bd, a spare rear end to a bd and 2 blown motors. The great news is the bd is in excellant condition, I become it's second owner, it has been in a shed for the last 20 years unmoved. It is having trouble maintaining oil pressure, is it because the new oils are not compatable? Starts at 60 lb but goes low after 10 minutes or so? I was wondering if you could give me an idea on fluid levels and recomendations for the engine, transmission, hydraulics, and in particular the injector pump (american bosch). Thanks for your previous replies.

How low does it go? From what I've seen on my 12... and from what my Gramps said, these engines don't usually have much oil pressure. All you really need is 5 psi to lubricate properly. It just has to get there.
Thanks Blake, it runs at about that, just seemed quite low, but other than that and the hydraulics letting the blade lower, this is a great tractor. I'm a little worried though, while trying to source in a motor, I probably asked a couple of hundred people about aquiring one. One of these people has found 3 OC18's, one going and 2 for parts, is this Oliver collecting thing addictive, I think I may be in trouble.

on my DD cletrac which has a DRXB diesel. it runs up to 60 psi when cold, and around 20-30 psi at full rpm when hot. at idle when hot it gets down to around 5 psi and about 10-15 psi at low rpm work when hot. this is running 20w50 diesel eng oil, so i presume running 15w40 or straight 30 weight it may be a little lower?? my motor runs perfectly fine at these oil pressures with no noticeable bearing clunks or rattles when hot. the injection pump runs the same oil as the motor and is first drained and then re-filled till it just flows out of the stop cocks located n the lower side of the pump. hope this helps, regards pete.

the BD is running well, the other parts have arrived, unfortunately, both spare motors were in poor shape, the newer OC12 motor with the cam out throgh the side of the block, the BD motor with scored crank and bearingd and damaged injector pump. A long story, but one from three isn't bad, but can anyone tell me how to time the injectors, the motor runs on aerostart, but not without it, any help would be greatly appreciated.
