Hi,
I have recently acquired 2 Oliver Cletrac Dozers that I hope to build one useable machine out of. To the best of my knowledge, one started it's life as a BDS and when the motor blew up the owner tried to install a JXC gas motor but never finished this installation (kindof making it a BGS). It looks like the motor is almost too forward for the installation? Possibly not enough room between it and the radiator? Not sure if this is really a good conversion? The other is an older BG that had a JXD gas motor that was partially disassembled for rebuild, but then unfortunately left sitting outside! Rust in the cylinders, etc. I'm kindof wondering if the heavier framework and dozer blade from the BD(or G)S can go on the older BG? Unfortunately the data plate was removed from the BGS, and the data plate on the BD is barely legible, but I could send photos for ID purposes if necessary. The BG really has the better undercarriage of the 2. I'm not sure if I can reasonably build one from these 2 or if I am mixing apples and oranges?? :?
Any help or direction is always greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Dave
Dave,
Photos would be helpful -
I've sent you a private message - look for it in the forum.
Welcome, and good luck with your project!!
Not that it really helps with your question, but I don't think there was a BDS. Just a BD or a BDH hillside model. The "S" means a Hercules gas engine made by Studebaker durring the War.
