oil pump is pumping. took it out and cleaned it all up. Probably just needed a better prime, but now I know it looks ok inside. is there any way to make sure it's pumping once the trans cover is back in place?

While removing my inoperable trans pump, I noticed the ring gear rivets and ring gear are loose. They will move 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Any thoughts on the subject??? Could I use hardened and shouldered grade 8 bolts??? Yikes

Did you remove the blade first then the side arms, or did you remove the whole thing as a unit? I'm in southern Illinois, but not sure of my plan with the blade yet

Working on the DGH and was wondering if anyone has removed a complete blade system. Is there a good way to remove most of it intact.

Trucking and Hauling / Converting flatbed to dovetail crawler hauler

I have a former dump truck (Western star) with 15 feet of frame over tandem axles. What are your thoughts on converting a heavy duty 24 foot flatbed into a forestry/dovetail bed to haul a DGH. Though about leaving 16 feet flat and cutting the rest off to create a 4-6 foot dovetail.

Southern Illinois. I figure without the blade I could have fun at Plow days and maybe other shows. Have a line on a DDH basket case, but scrap prices are a little high right now

I'm thinking about pulling the blade system off (don't have anywhere to work it), so I can haul it a bit easier to plow days and maybe shows in the future.

When looking at the specifications chart for a DGH is shows standard weight at 12000 lbs. Would this be without blade and what would it be with a Heil blade on it?

Could used tracks from a Cat Challenger be cut up to make road pads? Any thoughts on this?
