Howdy all, just noticed on ebay is a rebuilt hercules ooc engine

listing# 270513377424
title- Cletrac and Hercules OOC rebuilt engine

I guess my question is will this fit a 1935-36 20c?

the listing says (& I quote)  "The following are casting numbers: Block-222010 E  11 94, Timing cover- 23339-D, and the head is stamped 22748."

Everything looks the same.

Sure would be easier than rebuilding one!

I have a wagner loader on my 850, it is a strong unit but quite the workout when moving & piling logs, lumber & scrapwood!
I use the down pressure to lift the front up and turn alot, lol

Thanks Blake, I haven't got the carb off yet but today was putterin around it and noticed the linkage seems jerry rigged abit. Probably normal, seems that was the way of it back in the day, use what was available. I pulled the plugs after I got it home awhile back and put some pb blaster/wd40/diesel concoction down the cylinders and today the motor turned over with the crank, albiet slowly with alot of effort, but it is a good sign. The manifold is I'm afraid beyond repair, has a sizeable hole (1" or so) at the back cylinder at the bend just where it goes in, burned out or just rusted out i don't think its repairable, but doing an internet search these things are scarcer than hen's teeth. I did locate a parts machine that I could (will) be purchasing but the motor is stripped for the most part so doesnt help me there, and 90% of the tin is missing. I've started on a new building to house it over the winter, then I can begin tearing it down.
Thankyou for the info! Are rebuild kits available for these tillotson carbs?

What would the original carb be on a 20c with ooc gas engine. Its a later one (1935-36). Got it with a tillotson carb but it looks like it may have been put on at a later time. did they come with different carbs originally or all have the same?

Hi Bob

Thanks for the reply.  Actually I have planned to lose the belt pulley off the back anyhow, I have several pto driven accessories I hope to adapt to it when needed, ( 8' mower, 6000w generator and a wood splitter/hydraulic pump) and figure to fabricate a plate/cap for it while not in use unless I can find an original one.

A friend in the bodyshop business says he should be able to straighten the front guard (that has a definite bow to it!) but the radiator core is certainly beyond usable. Was wondering if having the radiator recored would be cost prohibitive? The tanks and steel all seem solid and good shape, or is used the way to go?

I'm ordering the manuals for it right off as I'm not familiar with crawlers or some of the terminology, pertaining mainly to the tracks, under carriage, drive components, ect., in the meanitme I have been scouring these forums picking up lots of good info!

I'll be clearing out a space or putting up a new building to house it over the winter, then I can begin the tear down to determine what all its going to need. I noticed several of the track 'shoes' or plates have corners broken off and some of what I think are called 'grouser' plates look to be in bad shape, particularly the ones that were on the downside in contact with the ground for so long, also atleast one of the track chain 'rollers'? is in need of replacement. I think its going to be quite the 'project'!

I'm not sure (yes I am) but I do believe I have caught this 'crawler bug' & the only cure I see right now is sitting out back with a tarp over it!  :D

Took some pictures this morning after it stopped raining, then tarped it up where it will probably stay for several months until I can set up a 'restoration area' for it.

Its somewhat rusty, only traces here or there of the original brown, had a belt pulley off the pto in back that ran the sawmill, but the housing of it is cracked where a roof beam fell on it, needs the radiator re-cored looks like and the motor is siezed, seat springs are there but upolstery is gone, otherwise it seems all complete. was told it ran at the time the mill fell in.

Just got my cletrac 20c home and unloaded. Has been sitting in a fallen down sawmill since the late 60s, from an estate, went and looked around last thursday. seen it there under boards and tin roofing, asked about it and was told if I wanted it get it out of there!

hope to take a few photos of it in the morning and post here. Its a diamond in the rough to me, I hope to restore it to usable condition.
