I could be wrong, but the whole thing looks like a black and white photo of a painting. It looks very realistic, but not quite authentic. It looks very idealized, like a war bond painting or something.

Anything ever come of that, Neil?

I saw an older model Cat D-4 that someone put a Cadilac V-8 in along with the automatic transmission, ahead of the regular Cat transmission. They had to stretch the central chassis, and thus the blade arms as well, by about 3 feet. Quite a piece of work. I've also seen an OC-3 with an Allis Chalmers radiator on it.

If anyone knows, it would be Landis Zimmerman down in Ephrata PA. He has a nicely restored model F in his sales lobby. I assume you mean the little model F from the early 1920's, or do you mean the far bigger model FG or FD, etc from the 30's and 40's?

G'day, Grey Fergy, I spent about 4 months in Victoria in 1997-98-- a very lovely place, I might say. I spent about a month in Edenhope and three + months in Cobram / Katamatite, as well as visiting Melbourne, Pyramid Hill, Ballarat, Sidney, Mt. Gambier, and Cairns, among other places. I saw a lot of neat stuff there. Older tractors I drove while in Oz included a Fordson Power Major, a Chamberlain Champion 9G, and a Chamberlain Countryman 354. Along with (you'll know what I mean when I say) some more modern junk. I'd love to go back some time!

I visited Queensland briefly in 1998. Cairns only, I'm afraid, would have loved to have explored more, but I'm glad I got up to Cairns for a few days. I was in Victoria for about four months on an agricultural internship. Fun memories.

I've never owned or even operated a Cletrac. Anybody live near me who would like to let me test drive one? 

I did stop in and see Landis Zimmerman last week when I was in Pennsylvania on business. He has a recently refurbished OC-3 loader for sale that I was licking my chops over. If I just weren't so broke I probably would own it now!
