Dave, I have been told my tractor worked on a farm near lake Grace, which I think is near queensland but my geography is not very good.  They may have been part of the same shipment from America, I believe they would have been supplied by britstand machinery.  Britstand also made blades and atachements for them.  Most of the cletracs B's you see with blades have heli angle dozer they are 9ft wide and the angle system is very similar to you describe, one I have has an English Bray made blade which is very similar to a heil but not quite a direct copy.
I look forward to seeing your pictures, if you look under the model B in the photo gallery there are a couple of pictures of mine. All the best, Sam

Yours will be a late 1951, probably early '52 model.  Is it an oliver or a Cletrac? my oliver Bd is serial no. 17D706 so must have only been built a few days or weeks later, it was sold new in Australia, where abouts is your? When you find an engine which drops in easy, I would like to know as I have an older Bd in need of an engine!!!!! Good luck, all the best, Sam

You should be able to drive the pin out with plenty of heat and then some more and a very big hammer.  My tracks had been shortened by one link and they had removed the master pin link so I had to drive a pin out, it took a lot of big hits and heat.  You wil then have to use one link out of your old tracks to replace the damaged one.  Good luck. All the best, Sam

The more I look at the photos, the more I think it looks like a model B not a D. Especially having a 7ft blade, which would be too small for a DG. Sam

Hello everyone

I was just trawling the internet looking for parts for my model H and found this great looking model DG Propane, this must be quite rare and looks in great condition.  I would love to buy it myself, but live in the wrong country! If any of you are interested it at http://www.grainfarmer.com/cletrac-crawler.html hope this interest someone, as it looks really good. All the best, Sam
Ps: if anyone has any model H parts I'd love to hear from you.

Hello Op

It sounds to me like your not touring the nut far enough.  They are shaped with a gouge out so that they don't need a lock nut, you need to turn them over 90 degrees in one turn or they just drop back to where they were.  Should be self explanetry when you turn it further.  The bands last a long time as they run in oil, but if the steering is difficult of grabby they could be worn or the lining is loose on the band. All the best, Sam

The main things that cost a lot if they go wrong is the engine and the running gear.  If the tracks are good thats worth a lot.  Unlike tractor with clutch and brake steering there is very little to go wrong with a cletracs controlled differential steering.  Almost all parts are availible from Zimmermans.  I'm affraid I can't help you with value, but if the tracks are worn out completely its not worth much more than its weight in scrap. All the best, Sam

I would do like blake said, pour some diesel on them and rock it back and fourth, it is also worth hitting them with a sledge hammer as this works well to free them.  I moved one that had sat for 30 yrs in damp old England and it freed up suprisingly quickly

The inner cover, drive shaft, outer cover, axel shaft, inner and outer bearings are all the same.  The only difference appears to be the final drive pinion and the bullgear. this suggests it should be possible to change the gearing by changing just the bullgear and drive pinion.  The oc12 part no. don't match with the bd parts.  This all means it should be possible to gear down a BD, which could be very usefull for heavier job such as dozing, and to gear up a BG for top work.
I suppose the flywheel would have to be different as the crankshaft on the diesel would be larger, still I think it would be an easy problem to get around.  All the best and thanks for the interesting help. Sam

Hello, sorry for the delay in replying.  My internet connection has been down for a couple of days.  I looked up the part no. you gave me, and the flywheel and bellhousings are different, the gears are all the same, but the final drive gears are different.  Would be very interesting to know if the housings are the same? as this may mean it is possible to gear down a diesel by fitting petrol final drive gears.  I have seen several posts in the past looking for ways to reduce the speed.  When I have a bit more time I will post the part numbers for the housing and the input and drive shafts for comparison.
I emailed quite a few people and no one got back to me about shipping, so have decided to leave it for now as its not a very good time for me right now. Sam

Thanks blake, I did some reaserch last night and the JXC or JXD were used depending on year like the DJXB and DJXC.  The BG was lower geared than the Bd, as it revved very slightly higher, the difference was very small though I think a difference between 56 or 58 engine revs to one sproket turn to 62 on the BG. Don't know how this was done though.   Sam

Hi, I've seen a hercules JXD on ebay item no. 7551785179, am I correct in thinking this is the same model as fitted to the BG? if it is it would be great in my BD with a beyond economic repair engine.  Only major problem its in texas, I'm in the UK.
Does anyone on here have any experience of shipping items internationaly? Any help or advice very willingly recieved. Sam

Are you checking the temperature with the guage or with a seperate thermometer? could it be the guage if its the former, does it sit on zero when cold before use.  If its the same as a BD which it may not be, the thermostat is on the top hose between the rad and the water manifold.  Also worth checking the fan belt is good and tight.  Other things would be to check the air filters are not blocked.

If it is yellow, that would suggest it is 1950 onward. All the best, Sam
