I have a JXA engine thaqt came out of a 35 Cletrac (should be JXC but it is the same block) Would this engine take JXC sleves? Can I put the in myself? Do I have to change the pistons?  The rest of the engine is in great shape and I have had it running but you can see the rings when you look down at the block from the top. (runs like shit).  I also have two JXD engines that would make great  boat anchors.  I would also buy a JXC running motor.  I am working on a 30 Cletrac.  Spark - 4 to go and I will have a complete set.

Spark: The JXA would have a smaller bore than a JXC. Hercules sleeves are a TIGHT press fit. Remember Hercules thing was to bore the sleeves that is why they had oversize pistons available. For what you are going to do if you remove the sleeves I would just bore the block and forget the sleeves. Trying to finish corn today before the rain tonight. Talk to you probably on  Wednesday about this in more detail. John

Tell me about your 2 JXD boat anchors. How good are they on the inside? I will tell you a little story about two WX hercules in a boat. One was standard bore the other one 30 over. No new pistons. Solution bore the standard engine to fit the worn 30 over pistons, notice I did not say they bored it 30 over, they bored it to fit the pistons. Took the 30 over engine fit 6 repair sleeves and bored these sleeves to give the correct clearance for the worn standard pistons. In other word do you know a shop that does racecar type work? Have the block sonic tested and then you will know what dimension you can bore it. Questions?
