The Hoosier

Hi I just bought a DD H
The serial number is 2L0912 for scrap price. The dozer is complete. I will hopefully have it home  this weekend. Any information on this dozer would be apprectiated!! I'll post some photos when I get her home. Thanks the Hoosier

Your DDH is a 1948! Tractor weight about 15,500 lbs plus dozer so total would be about 18,000.  It is a 70(flywheel) hp tractor.  Drawbar pull 11,000 lbs would be 14,000 if the later lower speed gears have been installed.  The engine should be a Hercules DRXB, 4 3/8 bore by 5 1/4 stroke for 474 cubes.  Engine is dry sleeved, they are very hard and give long life.

Hi Robert thanks for the info!! Sure wish I got a book with it. We got her home today. The clutch pedal has a very soft feel, the old girl rolls good out of gear but I think the clutch is stuck and probably the motor. There looks like a large inspection plate under the fuel tank. Will that get me into the clutch? What is the small double springed lever the moves with the clutch pedal. Sorry for all the questions. thanks the Hoosier!!!

Yes, that will get you into the clutch housing.

If the engine is stuck, I would pull the injectors and put in some automatic transmission oil and let it sit a while. It would also be a good idea to disconect the injector pump to be sure it is not stuck before trying to turn the engine.

I would mix a little kerosene with that ATF (about 50/50). It seems to work very well. Sometimes I have found if that won't do it it is best to pull the heads off and clean everything. A couple times it was a good thing I pulled them off. Then put a big block of hardwood in the cylinder and beat on each piston. Just remember it didn't freeze up overnight so just be patient.

I may have a book if you are interested.
