I have an old crawler tractor that is most likely a model r. The tag reads The Cleveland Motor Plow Co. serial no. 170 The tag is located on the differential under the seat. It had no engine or hood when I got it years ago.  I put a wisconsin engine and gear reducer on it and used it to smooth my driveway for a while before buying newer crawlers. I was reading this site to get information on an oc3. I figured it was old but had no idea it was that old. Does anyone else on the site own one that is complete and original?

Dwayne,
You have a most rare tractor, if indeed yours is a Model R.  The serial number range went from 1 to 1000, according to Cletrac Sales Data Sheets.

Sparky Duroe, an esteemed member of this site, put together one of the most complete lines of Cletrac crawlers on the planet - and did outstanding restorations.  Alas, they were auctioned off on Jun 21, 2008

Lot # 1
1916 Cletrac Model R
newly rebuilt engine ââ,¬â€œ one of approximately five known, three of which are in the United States, this was the first one restored.

I referenced the auction in my earlier post, and thought the photos would be worth keeping for reference, so I copied them to Photobucket.

There are 108 photos in all - each of the photo names includes year and model.  Sparky had some very rare Cletracs in his collection, and the depth and breadth of his knowledge along with the phenomenal quality of his work is evident in each one.

I meant to say welcome to the Cletrac Discussion Forum when I wrote earlier.  We're glad you joined.

How very cool that you have a Model R!  I hope the photos helped - I was glad to find them and share the rest of the auction photos.   We can't wait to see photos of your Model R and the cable winch donkey.

Some of  Spark's restorations wern't the best. Alot of them just had a liquid rebuild done on them. I know I was there and bought. I don't mean to trash the guy but I think on some he went for quantity not quality.

Just my opinion, but you know what they say about opinions...
