my ddh is fitted with cat d4d hyd and the other day a bloke told me that it had d4 track chains has any body ever heard of this beening done befor:cool:

Converting a D to D4D tracks is not easy! The D has a chain with 7.25 inch pitch the D4D is 6.75 inch pitch. The biggest problem is that the D has a much wider chain.  The D has Rollers with inside width of 8 1/2 inches between flanges. The cat ones are narrower.  The Cat chains would not ride on the D rollers or over the D front idler.  Measure your rollers and look at the sprockets, to see if they have had the teeth cut off and new ones welded on.The sprocket of the D looks sort of like a double sprocket at the top teeth, with a split in the tooth.
