i have a bd and having a little trouble getting it to run very well. now there are some that would say stick with get it to run right and thenit will be original and i might but i was just musing at the idea of a 5.9 cummins or a screamin detroit. i kinda want to use the dozer and from what ive seen so far this motor couldent pull the hat off your head. sorry to all the hard core "keep it original" guys but i want something i can use.

That'd be kinda expensive to ship over the pond I think!

I've got a JXC, the gas version of the DJXC, should bolt right in and supposed to have been rebuilt. A friend up the road has a BG with a JXC and it does just fine.

I think the 5.9 cummins would be a good engine, but would have way too much power for the weight. A 4bt would be better, but still plenty of hp fot it. The diesel out of a chevy chevette might be the ticket. Just would have to rig up a governor for it to work right.

I would skip the Detroit as I think they only excel at turning diesel fuel into noise.

I think the 5.9 Cummins is a good choice. My choice would be a 12 valve. If you govern it the same as the DJXC it should give you plenty of power. I believe the torque peaks at 1400 rpm.

how would mating up a different motor to the tranny work? i ahve a 93 dodge with a cummins and i love and also know how to fix it and know where i can get one cheap. setting up a governer wouldent really be neccesary with twice the torque and 4 times the horsepower would it? im unfamiliar with governers. maybe just a throttle on your left brake you could conntrol with your hand because theres no room for my feet let alone another peddle. biggest problem i think would be mating it to the bellhouising any ideas. has anybody done this with any motor?

If the flywheel was smaller on the Cummins, just cut the original plate, drill new holes to adapt it to the cummins and then to the tractor, using the truck clutch. Then mate the driving shafts. That'd be my guess without measuring and figuring with it right in front of me.
