Have a 1957 IXB-3.  The intake/exhaust manifold has 3 small circular through holes at the bottom of the intake/exhaust runners (3 holes total).  These look to be approx. 1/8" plus diameter.  Are these holes supposed to be there and if so what is their purpose?  I don't think anyone has tampered with this manifold.  Any input would be appreciated.  Thanks.

some of the original manifolds came with tiny holes in the exhaust runners at the bottom close to where it mounted to the engine . they were to let rain water out in case the exhaust was not covered . i have never seen one with holes in the intake . i doubt that they should be there ,because of the vac. leak that they would cause .

Yes Walter,
My mistake - upon looking more closely the holes are in only the exhaust runners - not in the intake.  I will leave them as they are.
