Last year I got 2 Oc-3 just getting time to look at them. The mag on the complete one has a coil on it and no tags or plates. It is not what I am used to seeing on old engines. Is this the XH1113 specified for IXB engines or a conversion. I have not been able to find a picture on the internet. Any help for a newbie would be greatly appreciated. :?

It sounds to me like the coil in the mag went bad and they added an external coil to replace it.

thanks for the reply. I found the book on the OC-3 and the mag pictured is definitely not the same. Looks a little like a distributer from an older Farmal or AC. Did the OC-3 have a retrofit available or was this a original equipment option

I think our HG loader has a distributor that looks like a mag with a hole drilled in the cap to allow a wire from an outside coil. And I don't think it's a mag converted to a distributor. I'd have to look at it again someday, but I don't think some of the mag's guts are in it and it may have a centrifugal advance too.

Thanks again! I will get it cleaned up some more and try to find some numbers etc. I seem to remember a reference in the 25 plus pages that I looked at on Cletrac.org to someone that used a dist. from a tractor? I have not been able to find it again. I have been watching the site for several months and get a lot of great info.
