What is a snow turbine?
My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors. I think the  expression "rotary snow plough" is more correct:D

I suspect that is what we call a snow blower.

As for the identification I cannot help.  I checked a serial number listing for Cletracs and everyone I looked at has a numeral in the first position.

The engine number does not match with anything I have either.  Every model I can find listed that starts with I is followed by an X.:(

Loupi: Do you have any more information, a picture perhaps. Do you think you have the serail number and the engine number turned around? 381 numbers would be engine numbers for the 40Diesel and then the early DD, IV numbers are EHD-2 models but you have too many numbers. And blake here we go with that S on the engine model Studabaker cast, built/ Just thinkin John

I wonder why those files were around 300 kb each. I brought them into Photoshop and just saved them and they came out around 48 kb each. Anyway, here they are again in their after-diet form. Please try to not upload files over 100 kb. Thanks.

These are very nice pictures - for being taken in a snow storm! I hope someone can identify the Cletrac.
