Water in exhaust, BGSH

First I have to say this is a top notch site!  Second, I have searched the archives for my answer and come up empty.
Now for the problem:
We have a Cletrac Model BGSH that has been used off and on, never really out of commission.  Last year we ran it a bit and it started leaking water from a little hole in the exhaust manifold, we haven't run it since.  We decided to get her going again and one of the freeze plugs was rusted through and it looked like the water jacket was full of mud!  Today I pulled all of the freeze plugs and used a small pressure washer to flush out the water jacket.  Replaced the freeze plugs and filled her up with water... now there are five little holes where water is leaking from the exhaust manifold.  We leaded the holes and began to add water again... thought everything was ok, no leaks, then water began to pour from the top of the exhaust manifold, muffler is removed.
Can anybody tell me why the water would be coming from the exhaust as fast as I can fill it?  Engine (Hercules) was not running at this time.
Please HELP!

First of all the water is comming from the engine block. You need to remove the manifold, then fill the unit with water and tell us where the water is comming from. Start there.

Haven't removed the manifold yet, but I know that if the engine is repairable I will need a head and gasket.  The water jacket in the head had broken to the outside some time ago and was repaired.  I guess if it cracked on the inside as well this could be the root of my problem.

How hard is it to find a replacement head and how much might it cost me?

You do not know what you need until it has been assessed.  Casting repair techniques such as welding or cold metal stitching can work wonders.  Just find out what the problem is, without all the drama of what it might or might not not be, and go from there.  Guessing in a situation like this is a waste of time.  Pull it apart - unless you are determined to fit another engine at any cost - and find the fault.  No one can really help you any more until you do that.
Sorry if this is a bit blunt, but the guys out there are all waiting to help as soon as they know what the repair problem is.
