My drive sprockets are worn very badly on my BD. I haven't been able to find anything on the web or anywhere else. I have heard shells are available to weld on. Any suggestions on how or where to build them up?

You could get some mechanical tubing the right diameter and cut it in half to make cups to weld in .

The best way to do that is to make a wooden "link" to what the pitch is supposed to be and use that to see how they are worn. Then you will know which way they need built up. The use the "link" to get the spacing correct when you build them up.

You can either use inserts or cups like Walter said or use stainless welding rod (time and rod consuming) and weld them up like that.

I saw somewhere where a person took a couple pieces of pipe the correct diameter for the track bushing and with some strap welded them together to check the spacing and wear of the sprocket.  I saw some weld on cleats somewhere but they did not have sprocket cups.

Thanks for the input. I have some good ideas to start with now. Luckily I have a parts BD to work with. (The sprockets on it aren't much better)
