All oc3 crawlers came with a 4 cylinder engine . You probably have a oc4 . What is shorted out  . The ignition or charging system ? They came with a positive ground system .

my mistake it is an oc4,,, need to proof read..
anyhow,,i'm not sure where the short is,,  i have the generator off,, and  ignition switched off and key removed.. but  something is killing my battery,, when i try to jump it.. just connecting jumper cables to the battery creates a huge spark like somethings drawing power  or grounded.  and yes it's stll hooked up as an six volt system with pos.ground.. so i'm thinking it might be ignition.....
 any ideas?

To me, it sounds like the starter solenoid is stuck or welded closed ,,,  maybe the starter bendix is jammed.  ...or both.
Take a battery voltage reading.
Remove the large wire to the starter and take another voltage reading.
You will see an increase if the starter is stuck  "ON".

That big of a spark without blowing a fuse tells me to look there first.

i'll try that,,,,
but i'm not sure thats it, once the cables are hooked up you can turn the key and turn the engine over as normal,, but it will kill the battery of what ever you jumped it off of...?
but i'll still check,,, and fuse? ,,what fuse? this thing has a rats nest of wires from way too many home  rewireing jobs before i got it..

If you have a butchered wiring harness ,you may want to start from scratch and make a new one . It is not very difficult . Check your battery cable to the starter .The original had a metal shield which could of worn through the insulation.

well, yes. makeing a new harness would probally solve most of the problems .. however.since i have no idea on how  to do it , thats why i was/am looking for a copy of the electrical schematics ,, so i'd atleast have something to look at and see where i'm going wrong......lol

Are we talking a crawler built in  cLeveland or a Series B built in Charles City?
