HG Service Bulletin Information

Before I put this away I thought this might help some of you. This iinformation is all taken from Cleveland service bulletins. Service Bulletin # CL-276 dated 3/24/1949 advised the field that all tractors would now have the serial number plate attached to the bellhousing instead of the main frame. The plate on the 31 inch gauge tractors had used this location before this date.
Water pumps. A water pump was factory installed on HG tractor 48GA116. The bulletin was dated 12/29/1948. Then a bulletin was issued over a year later that stated that they had used the wrong serial number and water pumps were first used starting with tractor Serial number 48GA 166. The new style front idler was first used on serial number 48GA626 so yes later HG tractors had the new style idler installed at the factory. More information on this later. Thanks John!  This is very useful information to me.  I have always wondered about when an HG with IXK3 engine added a water pump.  I didn't think that the IXK3 engine every had one until I saw one that was being parted out recently.  The idler setup change info is also very helpful.  Thank you for sharing this input!

John, do you know if the optional water pump kit put into a '46 HG IXK-3 is the same as in the IXB-3?

Well I was cleaning up and I found some of my misplaced HG/OC-3 bulletins including 3 on frame changes. Now I will try to get those sorted out by the weekend.

Well: I need to find the frame bulletins again, but did find a bulletin on checking the pressure of the OC-46 hydraulic system and what the serial number was of the first Hg to have an IXB engine. Will be doing some more cleaning in the near future.

Hi John. Anyone know what a "Main Frame Adapter Kit" is? Its mentioned in the OC3 manual for serial numbers 1WH000 to 7WH939 ? it has a different part number for each gauge 31, 42, 60, 68 and another part number for Industrials.
Its all in Service Bulletin CL-363. I'd love to get my hands on a copy. Many thanks, Chris

I believe  I may have one, I thought I bought a OC3  has the IXB3 but stamped 11 49 on the block , I called Landis and he thinks it's a late HG after I described it to him.
Mine has the pressed idler wheels also.
I cannot  find any serial  numbers on the bellhousing or the frame unless it's hidden behind the ware loader brackets.
If I could figure out how to post pictures on here maybe someone could tell me.

Hello Hoopty -

I use Irfanview to play with pix. Free, and easy to use. The "half size" option (half width, half height) cuts the file size to about 25% of the original.

Google it for a download. But check the download selections closely so you don't wind up with some fancy annoying garbage . . .!
