Transmission from Jacobsen G10 for HG/OC3

I was just given the transmission out of a Jacobsen G10 tractor. Amazing thing is that this will bolt right up to an HG bellhousing to provide an aux. trans.

Anyone ever tried this?

It has 3rd and 4th gears locked out internally, but I was told they could be unlocked easily enough. Although doing 20+ mph would be a bit scarey in a crawler.

I might try this...but I would like to do some research first.

Chris, if you use it as an auxiliary transmission, you'll want 4th (if that is direct) just to get the tractor's original speeds.

I might try this...but I would like to do some research first.

When you say it "will bolt right up" do you mean just externally, for does the input shaft fit through the original clutch disk and the end fit the pilot hole?   That's the hard part. There's a lot to match with proper splines ,ODs, an length.

I'm also wondering what the trans is? I don't think Jacobson even made any. I know on some stuff they've use Ford and Crosley driveline parts.

Hi, this is a little off topic but I see only one forum for auxilliary transmission.. I am trying to gear down my OC-3 and have access to a model A 4 speed, thinking that the granny gear will let me go even slower as my primary purpose is to tow a rototiller attachment.. I see on the cletrak page where John Desmerais is specific about using a 3 speed not a "truck" transmission, I see my transmission is larger but was wondering if anyone knew what the reason was..  also any tips for doing the conversion that might not be on the page, like should I pull the clutch and replace with Model A clutch plates, I need a mentor kind of person!  thanks Ken

There are several reasons for choosing the Model A 3 speed. The biggest is the length, with a U-joint at the rear of the Model A tranny, it will hook right up to the input shaft of the Oliver 3 speed. I don't think that a 4 speed will fit. The Model A clutch disk is also the correct diameter to match the Oliver flywheel. The Model A tranny has already been proven as great choice, this is what Trasco used for their conversion.

That's interesting, The set-up looks real close to the Trasco unit. The spline count looks the same too. I'm wondering how close the input shaft stick-out and T/O bearing are

It appears that the transmission is longer than a 3 speed/Trasco. Still interesting though.
