Recently acquired a 1949 BGSH crawler it is kinda rough shape wonder if it is worth parting out of just selling it all for scrap.   Confused in Montana.

If you could post some pictures it might help a bit. This post is a good candidate for the "All Models except HG, OC-3, OC-4 and General" section  ;)

I get so tired of that question.
If it don't mean anything to you advertise it on craigslist for $250/ton (that's about $1000) and someone will buy it to fix it or part it out.

My favorite is the old "Antique collectible" on Craigslist, that is usually followed by a $5000 asking price for a $500 pile of garbage you'd have to drive half a day back into the woods to get and nothing bigger than a ATV can get to it. (meaning it's frickin' impossible to load and somebody who's grandfather just died is trying to get rid of what grandpa knew was more of a pita to get to than it was worth)

But it is "antique" and if you could move it it just might be "collectible"

Nothing against you Owen, just saying is all.

Thanks Logger. You should see all the Wassit Worth ??? posts on the Oliver Board of Yesterday's Tractor website...

I did travel about 10 hours to pick-up an OC6 that was supposed to be easy to load. I paid in advance, silly boy, but not much more than scrap price. Turns out it had been sitting in the same mud-patch for 20+ years and frost and thaw had sunk it in up to its trunnions  ::)
Would have taken a Jumbo Jet to get it to move an inch towards my flatbed. Its still there, but have hopes of seeing it again in the Spring.
I am paying the owner, who is knowledgeable on old diesels, to get it running again...where there's a will, there's a way!

Chris if this is an OC-6 diesel make sure the man makes the screwdriver test on the injection pump or you might be out  an extra 800 dollars!. I have had 2 people contact me this fall that did not do that and now they both need rebuilt heads for the injection pumps. 800 if you can find them> Give me a e-mail if you have questions.

Nor me John...I'd certainly like to save myself $800+  :o
and if all on here are in the dark about it, then I am pretty sure the previous owner has not heard of it either...
thanks in advance

OK, this post goes waaaay back, but if you can believe it, I found someone to go get this machine. We're only now trying to get her running  ;D
We removed Pepco loader, we cleaned up cylinders etc. blah blah...all seemed well.

She should be running BUT...no fuel getting past the injection pump! >:(

So John, what was the screwdriver test now that I'm gonna be out that $800?! ???

In case I need to look for another, does a 77 Diesel run the same pump?

Most of all, does anyone have a scan of an injection pump parts diagram they can send me? ???
The pump is now in a thousand pieces on my mechanic's desk - good news is that nothing is broken or seized. I only have OC-6 gasser manuals here.

Thanks in advance for diagram, advice etc.

What kind of pump is that Chris? I just ran into Assembly and Disassembly instructions for Roosa-Master GB-CC-L-631 and GB-CC-L-431. The 431 says it's for the Hercules DOOC. The 631 is probably for the OC-12, but I am not sure yet.

I think maybe early ones had a Roosa — I'm a bit in the dark on OC-6 diesels to be honest. This one has a Bosch PSB6A.

Wow, I think I found what I was needing, Blake.

That Bosch pump was the same used on the Oliver 77 diesel motor (not the super 77) since that is what the OC-6 was derived from. Oliver never upgraded to the Super 77 motor for the OC-6.
