Hi
Wonder if anyone can help me with some oil questions.
Cletrac W motor oil, type and quantity?
Cletrac W transmisson oil, type and quantity?
Cletrac F motor oil, type and quantity?
Cletrac F transmission oil, does it share the same oil as in the motor?

Erik,

I would say straight 30 wt non detergent for the W engine, Not sure about the rear end.

F has a common oil res. for the engine and transmission. I would think 40wt or 50 wt would be best.

Not sure on quantaties.

Unless the W's engine is full of sludge and has never been apart, I would run detergent oil. You could run 30wt if it will never be run in cold weather. I run 15W-40 in almost everything as far as engines. Old theory was to never run multi-vis oil in older engines, but I think that is outdated now. Most of the Cletrac literature recommends 50 wt non-detergent in the transmissions and final drives, but some find it hard to obtain, so some say 90 wt GL-1 gear oil is about the same thing. Make sure you don't run hypoid or oil with extreme pressure additives.

As far as the F goes, as Bob says, 40wt or 50wt would probably be good. I don't think it would really matter whether it is detergent or non-detergent.

Thanks! I'll continue with my crawlers in a week or two. It's a true pleasure working with these old crawlers. Will get back to you with an update as soon as there is progress in work.
