Stuck Clutch Plate

OK,I got the head back on my BGS.Thanks for the info,Blake.Now that I got it running,it seems the clutch plate is rusted to the flywheel and or pressure plate.Any ideas on how to free it up,short of tearing it apart?I can't get it in gear to even move it.Just grinds.But with it not running,I can get it in gear.Thanks.

CPMICK put it in the lowest gear you have and close to a large large tree or stone. Then with the pedal depressed try and start it to hit the object in front of you. It may be enough to break it loose. Be sure to keep that pedal depressed. IF It don't break loose it should stall. If it starts in gear and you don't have any thing to push again try puting down the bladea little at a time. If it stalls put in reverse and start it again to get bak to where you can work on it. my $.02

I bit the bullet this morning and tore into it.I already had the hood off.Took the fuel tank off and removed the cover over the clutch.Loosened up the 6 bolts that hold the pressure plate to the flywheel.With the clutch pedal depressed,I hit the starter button several times.Finally broke free.One of the many bad points of storing machinery outdoors.

I don't think it matters whether you store it outdoors or not, these clutches have a tendendcy to attract and absorb moisture. Use is the best thing. In the books, they recommend blocking the clutch pedal in with a wood block when parking for extended periodes of time.
