All,

I'm happy to finally have a reason to join this group; I finally own a crawler! The story goes, I began dating my girlfriend in 2008. Over the years I'd go to visit her as often as I could, normally taking the same familiar  route to her house. Shortly after we began dating I noticed an old crawler/dozer sitting beside this guys driveway in the weeds. I patiently watched that dozer everyday for eight years as I'd drive by, until recently I noticed it missing. My heart sank as I had always hoped to see the man out at his mailbox so that I could stop and talk to him about it. As I continued up the road, I noticed the dozer sitting in a new spot, beside many other peices of equipment with an auction sign out front. I knew I had to go. So I did. And miraculously enough, the day after the auction, I finally got to bring the dozer home. More interestingly atleast to me, the dozer turns out to be an old fire line dozer for the DNR. I'm employed by that same agaency albeit a different division. Im convinced it was meant to be. My girlfriend isn't.
Anyway, the dozer is a Cletrac-Oliver AG6H. By looking at the serial number it appears it's a 1949 year of manufacture. I'm most familiar with old fords, so this is quite new and truthfully overwhelming. It does run and move thankfully.

I look forward to my first of many projects with this equipment and plan to restore it to its fire line days!
Thanks!

Great story Troy! It's always best to establish your tractor hobby precedent before finalizing anything with a girlfriend. Hopefully she'll want to be involved, and perhaps... she'll even want her own!
My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors. Welcome to the group!  I have been blessed with my wife willing to spend many hours with me as we work together on tearing apart our OC-3 to get it ready for plowing snow.  Again, welcome!
