All,

I recently picked up an AG6H with an FA244 engine in it. This is my first crawler, and other than the info I've found on the serial tag, I really don't know enough about them to know what I have. It fires right up, but seems to run pretty rich. So I figure it needs a carb rebuild...but I'm not sure what kind of carb is on it.

The right steering lever comes pretty far back before it'll turn, and when it does grab it doesn't turn too fast in comparison to the left side. So I figure I'll need to tighten the bands or they'll need re-lining.

The front blade lifts but settles back to the ground within 30-45 seconds of reaching its peak height. It appears that piston seal? is leaking because the pistons are wet. I did recently notice a few drops had dripped onto the dozer frame and it looked similar to chocolate milk. Water maybe?

Finally, I know this thing had set for atleast 8 years, as that's how long I watched it before being able to buy it. I'd like to drain and replace all fluids before freezing temps settle in here in Michigan.

Any insight, tips/tricks, advice etc is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It may have a hi speed mixture adjustment on the carb, so you might not have to rebuild it. Original engine was Continental F-226, but maybe it was replaced.

Where would I find that on the carb? And how would I adjust? Engine smokes a bit, smells like it's running rich.

The main jet on a carburetor I usually the largest jet. Start with the jet 1-1/2 turns open. Start engine and open throttle quickly. If it back fIres open up the main jet a little until it doesn't backfire when throttle is open rapidly.
