I need some help.  I am new to the tractor business.  My dad has a Model GG, Avery.  Only this morning did I find out it was really a Cletrac.  Anyway, I am trying to find out all I can; it's value especially.  The serial number is IFA2020, born in 1941.  I am a daddy's girl, and I would love to give him some very interesting news for Christmas.  I find that I am becoming more fascinated with tractors the more research I do.
I remember riding down the street in Dallas, TX on that thing!  My sand box was an old tire from it.  I thank you for any help you can give.

Welcome to the world of Cletrac! I'm sure you'll find lots of great help here. It would probably help if you ask some specific questions about your General. Easier to start that way.

As far as value goes, that is a very hard question to answer. Actually in most cases it can't really be answered as it depends on so much, including the condition of the tractor and how much the owner wants to sell it and how bad the buyer wants to buy it. It's something people ask me all the time, but I can't answer.

Again welcome:D

My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors. Aces2704,
You might want to consider joining your Dad in the BF Avery Collectors Association. It's a nice little club for owners, and interested parties of this nice little tractor. News letters come bi-monthly. If you e-mail me, I can get a membership form to you. As Blake says, ask away. There are many people here who are familiar with your tractor.

Hello y'all!  I forgot about this great discussion forum until Blake reminded me.
I don't have much new info on the tractor other than it has 2 wheels on the front.  Daddy says it looks like the General, but his is a year or so after the GG General.
There are some awesome pics of the General on this site, but none are the one Daddy has.  His is orange, and has 2 front wheels.

Can anyone offer any more info on this tractor?  I think I sent away to get the BF Avery newsletter, but I don't think I have gotten anything but once.

Anyway, I'd love to know the exact model name of this tractor, so I can do some more difinitive reasearch.  Dad's in Texas, and I'm here in NC, so I can't offer a picture.
Hope I gave enough to get started...

The dual front wheels were an option. There was one here in a junk yard with the dual front wheels. Now Look at the serial number tag. 1941 was the last year of the Cleveland (Cletrac) units. If your tractor is Orange it is a Cletrac General. The Wards Twin-ROw same tractor sold by Montgomory Wards were re. More questions?

My General has dual wheels in the front. Plus steel tip-toe wheels on the back.

Yes, the dual front wheels were an available option on the early Generals according to my parts book. The serial number you give and the orange paint indicates yours is most likely a 1941 General manufactured by the Clevland Tractor Co. (Cletrac). There is reading material online if you want to learn more about this tractor. Keywords to use when searching are "Cletrac General", "Montgomery Wards Twinrow", and "BF Avery model A". These are all the same exact tractor only sold under different names and color schemes through 1945. Websights to check are ytmag.com, bfavery.com, alltractorsusa.com, rustichome.com to name a few. Reasonably priced reproduction parts and maintenance manuals for your Dad's tractor are available through floydcountymuseum.org.

Eric, you are a DREAM!!  I can't wait to check out those sites!!  Thank you so much.  I'll be back to let y'all know what I find out.

I already signed up for the BFAvery website.  Seems they have a way to find some parts.  I called Daddy to tell him that I found some info, and he asked if I could find a gas tank (or learn how to clean the one he's got) and a Generator.  He said he really wanted some attachements, too.  He said his father had a whole set (as did the whole community) but they were sold off as scrap when the war hit.

So thanks, Blake for this great site, and Eric for your wisdom!
