Interesting "French made" K-20 Cletrac. Does anyone know any more about these French made tractors? I had never heard there were any Cletracs made in France before, but I have heard this from more than one source. And Ludovic has proof in his machine!
UPDATE: November 16, 2007 Hello Blake,
I will give some news about my Cletrac family who become larger.
Since my last sending (with the K20), 3 other Cletrac have join my collection :
- - one ED2 (I suppose because I have not find the constructor plate) with pony Hercules motor (2 cylinders). But diesel engine is blocked.
- - one 1945 AG6, not complete(seat and air filter) and engine blocked too.
- - one FDE from 1948 (10Y796) with Heil dozer equipment. It is possible that it is the last one in France. It seems to be in good condition.
If you want to complete your cletrac album, you can use my pictures.
Best regards.
Ludovic Joiris from France.
Blake,
Here are the pictures of the K20. He's equipped with a Solex carburetor and RB magneto.
The war attributes are :
- - a protection rod in front of the radiator
- - 4 hooks back and front
Best regads,
Ludovic
Blake, On the plate of the tractor, it's written that he's made in France by the ALMACOA company (17-19 rue de Rocroy, Paris) under licence of Cleveland Tractor. Then, from 1933 to 1935, a french diesel engine (UNIC) has been assembled to the model K. After 1935, Cletrac crawlers were all imported. But my K20 has the gasoline engine and date around 1930.
So you can say that the K20 was also made in France.
Best regards.
Ludovic.
