I work for NAPA in Mansfield, Ohio. If you can give me some applicable information, I can look up alot of older part numbers or interchanges. We still have parts available for older ignition systems that can be accessed by our unit parts guide. If you need distributor parts, give me a Dist.# and a Manufacturer Name. We have alot of older gasket sets available for some older Continental and Hercules engines, but I need to know the model numbers, to look them up.

No, I looked it up in the Echlin Unit Parts Guide at the NAPA store where I work. We can find distributor parts by the distributor number. I used the Delco Distributor Number that was posted by Arbie.

Glad I could help. Take your old parts in with you when you go to the NAPA store. They can look up a graphical display on their computor and check to see if the numbers I gave you match your parts. The Echlin Buyers Guide for ignition parts also has pictures of these parts. Good luck with your tractor.

I checked on your parts today. According to the Echlin Ignition Unit Parts Guide, for a Continental F226 with a Delco Distributor with number, 1111766, your tune up parts should be as follows. Points, CS763A. Condenser, RR174. Cap, RR142. Rotor,RR83. We only keep the points and condenser in stock, but we can order the cap and rotor from our warehouse in Columbus, Ohio. Your local NAPA store should be able to get these items for you as well.

Go to NAPA. They can look up parts for any industrial engine distributor by using the distributor number. I will look tomorrow at NAPA, where I work and see if I can get you a part number.

Make sure that you polarize the charging system anytime that you disconnect any part of the system.

Hey Logger. Funny story. I can't count the number of times I have been in dumb situations and dug myself in deeper coz I had no-one to help. You know that, hmmm, how do I drive two tractors at the same time conundrum! Or one tractor quits, so you get another to haul it outta the way, then it quits too etc. etc.
Last week was trying to load an OC46. Wanted to haul it with my nice OC46. I broke a brake lever linkage at the split pin hole. OK, so drag out the other OC46 I have - a bit rough - needs some TLC. The gear lever jumps out of the rails and I cannot get it relocated, so now that one is stuck out of gear and in the way too! THREE OC46s in a row. Grrr!
I gave up at that stage...getting dark, being eaten by bugs, and didn't want to mess up the yard trying to drag them both out with a rubber wheeled tractor Those are the days when we wonder why we didn't buy something new  

Wow, This is a hobby, aren't hobbies supposed to be fun and relaxing? When I have a day like that, I just want to close the door to the garage and hide inside. Hope things get better for you. Just take it One thing at a time.

Man, it's great to have a little one that is interested in an old tractor. My 3 year old grandson loves being in the garage helping me with my projects. We are looking forward to going to the annual tractor show at the fairgrounds this year. He knows all the brands and loves anything with crawler tracks.

Hey, 440, Now that is some innovative engineering. Sometimes we just have to come up with a solution to a problem, It don't have to be pretty, just get the job done. Nomally when I'm working in the garage at home, I'm all by myself, so I have had to come up with some creative ideas to get the task done.

Some seats used on various lawn and garden equipment mount with one 1/2-13 bolt. My MTD tractor has this type of seat. Check anyone that sells parts for Tractors or Industrial Lift Trucks. The NAPA Lawn and Garden Equipment Catalog has some different seats available. I think our local Tractor Supply has some seats in stock.

Look and see if there is a test port on your hydraulic valve, where you can tap a gauge into and check main relief pressure. You could also connect a gauge in line at your lift cylinder and check pressure there. I feel that if the blade will lift the front of the tractor in the down position, that you are getting adequate pressure and the pump is not at fault.

My wife would rather that I have something to work on at home, because then she knows where I'm at. I'm presently restoring a 1969 Ford Torino GT Fastback.

Please be careful when operating the system for the first time if there is a possibility of air in the system. The action of the cylinders may be jerky and uncertain until the air works its way out. When I was an industrial truck mechanic, we would often rebuild hydraulic cylinders, when we put
them under hydraulic pressure for the first time, they would sometimes really jerk or jump until the air got out.

See if you can get a number off the old starter, and I will see if we can cross reference it to our number. Perhaps I can get you a NAPA number to use at your local store.
