Glen;

What timing.  My OC 3 does the same thing and my neighbor recommended a stop leak product that Lucas oil manufactures.

He had stated that he used it all the time in his tandem axle Mack dump truck and it worked great.  I am going to try it myself vs. tearing it apart.

Hope this helps.

Guys;

Thanks for the feedback.  Did some additional research and found the following numbers:

524567746 - Cast number on the right side of the motor (behind magneto)
112017 - Cast number on the support bracket between the top of the bell housing and the bottom of the gas tank.

As you are aware - I just got this crawler at an auction but would like to know what year it is.  The previous owner stated that it was a 42 - but would like to confirm on my own.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Blake;
The number as listed is a casting number.  I have looked high and low and can't find any additional numbers.  When you say bell housing - is this the area right below the gas tank area?  Sorry as I am unfamiliar with the terminology being given.  Any illustrations or photos you might have would be great.

Thanks

being a newby - Is the housing you are referring to below the gas tank at the transmission area?  I did find the following number - 112017.  Is this considered the serial number?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advane

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / track tightening

Hello to all once again.

As you are all aware I am a newby to the crawler world.  By chance would anybody have the track tightening instruction for a Oliver HG42.

I have a good idea on how to do it - but just want to play it safe so I don't break anything.

Thanks in advance.

As I stated in an earlier post - I just acquired a Oliver HG42 but do no know what year it is.  Can anybody let me know where to find the serial numbers for both the frame and motor?

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / charging an 8 volt battery
October 14, 2014, 11:13:47 PM
Hello to all.

I am new to the forum and am also new to the crawler world.  I just recently acquired a Oliver HG42 and drained the battery trying to get it started.
With this I am asking for some guidance in charging an 8 volt battery.  I have a good quality 6/12 volt charger and have read in several inquiries where individuals have charged and 8 volt on the 6 volt setting.

Any suggestions?  Just want to make sure I don't destroy anything.

Thanks
