If you get into a situation where one track spins freely while the other stops, pull the lever on the one that is stopped. It will then have power put to it at a reduced steering speed.

The left one was spinning freely. And the right one was stopped. I grew up with this tractor and I have seen my father have it in all kinds of situations. I don't ever recall seeing one spin and the other one stopped. I thought something broke for sure. What causes this?

A large pine tree fell into my pond a couple months ago. Decided to work on it today. Its pretty steep around the pond. No issue for the crawler. I wouldn't even think about taking my ford 4WD in that area. So I got the crawler down there and I begin to see that the ground may be to soft for this but I don't  give up easy. That was probably the fist mistake! The tree is about 24" diameter. I cut 2 14' lengths off and chained one up. I had no where to go but up. She started Pawing and I was locking one track then the other. Before I realized it the left side buried up. Then I couldn't steer it to the right it pulled hard to the left making it worse. Things were going south real quick.  I thought my steering band broke. I cut a couple 10" logs and laid them in left trench and pulled up on it. Had to fight hard to get it out. Got some of the mud off then it seemed ok. Backed her back in and pulled the logs out. I thought I had a real problem but then it cleared up. Do you think all the mud packed in the track caused that? I grew up with this tractor and haven't that much fun in several years!  ;D

For years I used a Napa Gold 1101. I went to buy one last week and the are discontinued. The guy said they put 4 of them in the trash about a month ago  :'(. He crossed it to another number. When he said it was $35 I never wrote the number down. At Advance Auto I found a Purolator L30007 for $8.39 ea. It fits the unit just fine. I am all for a good filter but I believe the $35 filter from Napa is a product of supply and demand and will probably be the next discontinued filter.

I have been on here for a while but never posted anything. Just now getting around to it. I have a 1951 Oliver Crawler HG-68. It's been in my family since new. It is in very good shape. I am doing a little restoration on it.
