No message came through on this post.

No message came through? I'm looking for the size of the PTO for a coupler. Not sure if it's a standard size or what but I can't find any information on them.

Anyone know the size for a coupler? I have been searching online and haven't found much. Or does anyone know the diameter so I can make my own? TIA

Even jumping the tractor with 12v it hardly turns over, even with jumping directly to starter so I'm fearing the worst.

At the moment I don't have time to order a new one as we are suppose to get 12-24" of snow in the next three days.

Can these be pull started ok?

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / IXK3 torque output?

Pretty confident the IKX3 in my 48 is starting to give up the ghost. To me it sounds like a possible failing rod bearing. Engine only really dose it above idle. To me it sounds like belt squeal but it's coming from the block.

Anyways I'm curious in presuing alternate engines. Trying to find a small 3 cylinder Diesel in my area is useless.

I'm curious on the torque output of the factory engines. I can only find HP numbers.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm sure I can find a 1.8L or 1.5L VW Rabbit Engine for cheap. Between my lathe and my mill at work I don't see an issue in making it work. As long as the numbers are similar.

Amp meter is just tied to the charging

Thank you. I may or may not have a video up on my YouTube channel tonight.

But just incase I'll post an update,

#1, installed new spark plugs

#2, added some marvel mystery oil to crank case and fuel tank, added some seafoam to fuel as well. I noticed quite a bit of oil and carbon build up on cylinders 2-3. I'm not sure if they naturally run rich like that or if I have a bigger issue

#3 unbolted hydraulic pump, unbolted radiator so I could pull the jack shaft. The pump coupler was shot and causing the shaft to travel in a elliptical pattern. So I will take it into work and make a new coupler out of UHM plastic.

Next step is pull the loader off.

I'm not sure if it's the generator bearing going out, but occasionally the engine squeals. It doesn't sound like a belt to me which is concerning.

Engine oil pressure is between 20-25psi which is a good thing.

Reverse terminals on the ammeter. You'll have to change light bulbs when going to 12 volt. Starter should be fine

is the ammeter connected to the magneto at all or is it just for showing that they system is charging? The gauges are all broken and there's no lights currently on the tractor. Which is part of the reason I want to do the conversion.

Hello Ladies and Gentleman.

This weekend I acquired a 48 Cletrac HG 42. Runs decent, steering is a little weak, and it does smoke. It has a loader on it (HORN i think) with some leaky hydraulics.

After I brought it home I drove it into the shop and pulled the cowl off. Pulled the plugs and at least one was fouled out, one more in bad shape, two looked great nice deep brown color , no matter ordered some more. But in the meantime I cleaned the plugs in it for tinkering.

I myself am a professional welder/fabricator, after seeing the loader on this I am slightly appalled. It has been hacked apart and welded back together countless times, which is probably why it hits me in the side of the head when I drive this thing. So one of my more pressing matters is to build a new loader before snow sticks.

The manifold has been repaired once, but cracked all the way through on the other side, so I may be fabricating a new one.

I did some digging and I cant find much solid info on 12V conversions. I know I need an alternator, but can I switch it to a ground negative system? Or will that mess something up with the magneto? I know Ill need new gauges ect. I'm just worried to do anything because of the magneto, so if someone can help me out that would be great.

Also does anyone have a link to brake band replacement? the guy I bought it from gave me some rebuild bands. I could hardly steer it enough to load it until I adjusted the linkages.

Anyways I will be sure to post pictures as I work though this old beast. Any help would be much appreciated!
