I got a change to check out the Cletrac AGH that I recently aquired (confirmed).   By the serial #19924 it looks to be a 1937.  The engine is a 6 cyl.  Flat head with the distributer located between spark plugs 4 & 5.  The serial #on engine is 22193. The exhaust manifold says CLETRAC.  The fire wall has been cut out for the starter (right side) and the bellhousing cut out at starter.  You can see flywheel and starter gear.  I can post pictures if that helps.  Don't think it is the original engine.  Thanks for the help.

You have a 6 cylinder Continental, no doubt an F model. Look at some of the castings and the casting numbers will start out F600-XXXX,etc
No it is not the original engine. The original engine was a 226 cubic inch four cylinder Hercules. The AG6 crawler came about in 1943 because Hercules did not alot any of the OOC engines to Cletrac because they were all used for the war effort. Your continental may be an F-226 although it could be slightly smaller or larger displacement but with the same casting numbers.

Thanks for the info.  I have attached some additional pictures that may help in identifing the engine.  Will not have a chance to check casting numbers for a while.  Is there a way to use the serial number on engine (22193).  Would like to get a manual on engine.  Thanks

It is very obious that you have never read A Continental manual. One thing parts for it are easier to find than for the OOC hercules that should be there. If you wait till later this winter I can find you one.

I just ordered AGH & Conitental manuals from Jensales.  I see now that parts are readily available for this engine which is good.  It has been awhile since I worked on tractors & equipment.  I grew up on a farm and did alot of mechanics work.
Also, it is taking a bit of getting use to the Cletrac system as we had a TD-6 & Linderman crawler.
It is interesting that when they installed the 6 they cut away part of the bellhousing which leave the flywheel exposed for about 6".  I think I might put a piece of metal over that area.

That same F226 is used in my 1958 Willys Jeep pickup and always runs good. My front plate is different because the jeep does not use the governor. my manifold is opposit with a carter carb and down exhaust. The same motor is used in 1940s and 50s jeeps, Kaiser Fraser cars, Red Seal power units on construction equip, and old Pettibone fork lifts. Any machine shop person over 50 years old should be familiar with it.
