Need help getting OC-46 started

My uncle had an old OC-46-3D with a backhoe attachment that I might get.  I want to get it running so I can get it on a trailer and bring home.   Does anyone have any pages of a operator guide that they could email me so I can see how to get it running.

It needs a battery - what size is it - is it a 12 volt.

How much does it weigh? (for trailering)

I was going to use it for a couple jobs around the house and then possibly sell it.  I worked a few years ago and I know my uncle spent some $$ on it a few years ago to fix leaks and even paint it up.   The person who sold it to him about 12 years ago repaired the trac.

According to my service manual the OC-46-3D is a diesel that uses two six volt batteries wired in series to make twelve volts. I'm sure you could use one twelve volt battery though. I guess I would drain the fuel and put in fresh, check the oil in the engine and trans., check the coolant then put a battery in it and crank it over and see if it starts. I could scan the fuel system bleeding prcedure and email it to you if needed or, anything else in the manual you'd want. I got my manual as a reprint on ebay for about $25.00. If you decide to keep the crawler, you'll probably want one.

As far as the weight goes, I think an OC-46 with the weight pack on back is about 8000 lbs. You probably don't have the weight pack on back but the backhoe attachment I would think weighs more than the 800 lb. weight pack. To be safe I would figure 8500 to 9500 lbs.

I would not drain the fuel out unless there was something wrong with it. Fuel oil will last for years and years.

I don't have an owners manual I have a service manual. Sorry!
My OC-46 is gas so I don't know about the starting procedure. I didn't see glow plugs in the wiring diagram so I think you just turn the key and crank or push the starter button.

Ed, I am with Blake, I don't think I would drain the fuel system unless there is moisture in it. Get it running, then service fuel filters after you know it is going to be OK. If it has only been a couple years it should be OK, and it is not a freezing cold day. I can scan the pages you need from the manuals, and I will attempt to e-mail them to you.
