How do you add photos to your post

Is there an easy way to add a photo to a post? Someone must have a step-by-step procedure.

Just downsize your pic's in your photo software to some decent size, 600x xxx  or so.  You can test them after resizing them by displaying them in your browzer at full size  (100%).   Make sure you have "auto risize"  turned off.

A bit out of my area of expertise, but I'll give it a shot.

I looked at the photo of the tag, but its hard to read.  Does it say IXB-3?  I think those engines have a casting date right on the engine block. The date is on the right side if you are standing on the clutch (rear) end, just above the oil pan.  The numbers are configured as: day-month-year.

The small HG used some variant of a Hercules IX engine (either IXA or IXK). The serial number is stamped on the side opposite from the manifold near the top on a flat spot.

The early Avery Model A (beginning 1943) used a Hercules engine with a 3-1/8x4" bore, so that may help date your engine.
 
The model IXK3 displaces 123 cubic inches, and the later IXB3 version of the engine displaces 133 cubic inches.

Yes the tag is difficult read, too much light. The numbers are IXK3  3-1/8 x 4

The research I did says the bore and stroke should be 3-1/4 x 4, but I'm new at this, I could be wrong.

I did find the correct casting numbers behind the magneto, 3  8  49 (March 8th 1949)

I scraped and cleaned the block didn't find the serial numbers, I'm guessing there a small font size (I may need a younger set of eyes)

Most of the HG models I've seen have the IXK-3 engine (3-1/8 x 4).  There may have been some later model HG's with the IXB-3 engine (3-1/4 x 4), but all that I've seen with the IXB-3 are OC-3's.  Early model HG's had no water pump and used a 2" diameter lower radiator hose straight to the lower block elbow port.  Later HG's and the OC-3's used a water pump and smaller diameter lower radiator port that connected to a U-shaped pipe connecting to the water pump (located behind the fan pulley).
